...where the real money from the movie is made!

That line was uttered by one of our sagest financial geniuses of the past century. I am talking about none other than Yogurt from Mel Brooks' movie Spaceballs. Spaceballs was released on June 24, 1987. I was born on May 1, 1987. The Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat made their franchise debuts during the 1988 season. What does any of this have to do with anything?

The Hornets? Stay tuned to learn what Jim Henson, The Revolutionary War & Fashion Design have to do with an NBA Franchise.

For now the only other meaningful connection is they are remaking Spaceballs now (if you haven't heard). That line from Yogurt (a parody of Yoda) was a wonderful hint at a legal agreement Brooks had with Star Wars (who the Spaceballs parody was about) creator George Lucas. When Brooks wrote the script, he sent it to Lucas to ask for his blessing. He gave permission but with one non-negotiable condition: that Brooks could not manufacture or sell any official Spaceballs merchandise.

Well I'm not Mel Brooks, and this isn't Star Wars so I think we're good.
