Reb Shayale of Kerestir's Yahrtzeit is 3 Iyar 5685, 101 years ago today. He was famous for many things but one above all was feeding anyone who walked through the door. Neighbors told stories for generations about a bag of rolls that somehow always had enough, no matter how many hungry travelers showed up. He would leave his own learning to make sure a stranger had a hot meal and a place to sleep. Tens of thousands still walk to his grave in a small Hungarian town each 3 Iyar, and his descendants carry on the same hospitality year-round all around the world. We designed a shirt with an updated portrait of Reb Shayale.
